Hero Destini 125 Summary
A super commuter scooter of India, the Hero Destini 125 is efficient, fuel-efficient, and comes with an affordable price tag. It is a high-speed retro scooter that provides significant power and comfort to deliver users comfortable rides for their daily commuting needs, making it the perfect choice for both the young professional and family markets. So, whether for a daily commute to the office or school or simply running errands on the weekend, the Destini 125 should serve as a hassle-free and smooth scooter.
Design and Styling
The Hero Destini 125 is a clean, understated design that looks modern but very…functional rather than flashy. It looks nice and clean, with a few standout features such as the chrome-finished handlebar, dual-tone body colors, and stylish headlamps. Up front, the headlight is naked so all of its aggressive-looking elements are visible from the front. The rear is also uncluttered but the tall grab rail is functional and has decent space.
A flat and roomy seat is among the highlights of the layout giving respectable comfort to both rider plus passenger. The seat is low-slung enough for all-size riders to be comfortable in the saddle. The under-seat storage is decent as well and can accommodate a helmet/ some stuff easily.
Performance and Engine
The Destini 125, on the other hand, is backed up with a 124.6cc BS-IV air-cooled engine which provides just enough power and torque for whatever riding you need to do in and around town. The engine of the Hayate is capable of producing nearly 9 bhp (brake horsepower) at a cool 7000 RPM and 10.4 Nm of torque that loves climbing up hills during bumper road traffic more than any other city bike or scooter cut down to size would dare bother doing, all while still steady as she goes at a lairy 5500 RPM.
The scooter being gearless, it comes with a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) that makes the ride effortless even in stop-and-go traffic. This lovely little scooter is beginner-friendly as well with its easy-to-control pull-away and fine-balance.
The Hero Destini 125 also boasts of i3S (Idle Start-Stop System) one of the few unique features across the segment. It gets the stop-start engine system like many modern bikes, so it turns off when you pull to a stop (say at a traffic light) and kicks back on when you twist the throttle. This not only saves fuel but mileage also increases a lot which works in favor of cities where the traffic congestion is widespread.
Fuel Efficiency
The high fuel efficiency figures of the Hero Destini 125 also work in its favor. It gives around 50-55 km per liter in the worst-case scenario of using up all the power from the Li-ion battery during a ride, thanks to its well-tuned engine and also due to its i3S technology. The additional range is great for daily commuting, which should further lower the scooter’s running costs and make it a very viable option for most riders.
Comfort and Ride Quality
What Hero has focussed on while designing the Destini 125 is rider convenience? The suspension setup includes telescopic front forks and a rear spring-loaded hydraulic shock absorber, providing an excellent ability to absorb the bumps and potholes on Indian roads. The suspension has been set up to have a reasonable compromise between comfort and control, which should deliver a good ride in the city even over bad roads.
The riding position is upright and comfortable and there are wide handlebars, a nicely tapering, flared plexiglass screen to reduce buffeting at speed on the motorway, and lots of footboards so you can move about. The scooter also has alloy wheels with tubeless tires that provide better grip and stability even on wet/uneven roads. It also features 10-inch alloy wheels that aid its stability and performance.
